Replacing sliding door wheel.

our sliding doors were old school & the new wheels cost $70.00 ea from Bunnings. We searched for ages for the right type, but easy enough to put on.

Try ringing Exceed the window people they did ours cost about $80. they have an 0800 number Or your local glazing company most likely will have them in stock ie smith and smith .

One of the wheels on our ranch slider is sticking. After looking online, it looks fairly easy to replace the wheels but. our wheels look like they're riveted on whereas others I have seen just pop out with a screw driver. Would this mean I have to either replace the whole bottom part of the door or just drill out the rivets.

Yes that type you need to drill it out and replace it with a new one the same. They arent as easy to come by now as they are quite old.
Try one of the window maintenance companies or your local aluminium factory.

They are for sale on trademe
Why not ask the person you buy them off how its done.
Comes in 2 different length axles and wheel width from what i can see

some rollers and it looks like yours is one of them is just a simple axle that pushes through the frame and roller, you simply tap out the axle with say a dot punch or similar then slot in the new roller and tap a new axle in and it's done

Er, um no.
The star shaped screw is (or should be) the adjuster.
That picture looks wrong somehow and Im trying to think whats not right

Bout half way down is a pic of your roller.
What looks like a rivet on your door is the lock for the adjuster. It should just tap out.

What was confusing me was most I have seen use a small self tapping screw as the lock rather than a pin like you have.

Ops picture with the rivet head, will be really old school ?, and not sold like that anymore.
They now come with the pin, you have to really bash that in, what ever way you want, and that spreads the center of the axle out to hold tight on the off center wheel hole.
Like above, use monster screwdriver and turn. If the axle isn't tight as, the wheel might not adjust upwards. and the axle will turn without the wheel.

The little lock screw has to be very very short, or ya will screw it into the wheel and wasting your time doing the job

Just realised the 2nd pic was missing a little screw that locks the star adjuster. I didnt put it back on when I took the pic.
