Situation, have been asked to install the generic ceiling fan with light in bedroom. comes with the horrid rotary 3 speed and off selector switch plate with isolator below. they have also got the compatible remote control with control unit that sits(plugged inline with loom to fan/light) inside fan mounting base. remote has 3 speed selector and light on/off. instructions say for remote to work, wall mount switch plate control for fan speed must be on high.
they currently have 2 way by door to above headboard for current light.
options are to remove the speed controll mech and capacitor block and leave loose behnd switch plate on high keeping 2way and switch as is, but I thinking the capacitor block is used only for low and medium so can direct hard wire ditching capacitor block as says to leave on high for remote to function.
Am I correct in this? cheers

I dont understand what you asking? Sounds like one crappy remote if the unit has to be on high (thats no.1 on these units aint it?) for it to work.

fan comes with clipsal style switch with rotary dial low/med/high/off.
basic question is limiting capacitors(diodes?) behind rotary switch ONLY in use when low/medium whereas on high speed direct on line.
install either the the remote control unit or the wall mount control. DON'T try to install both!
