Self adhesive vinyl tiles ?

The Chinese ones in Bunnings black and white marble.

Are they any good !

We have just removed the log burner concrete / pebble hearth and a 1200 x 2400 fibrolite / pebble back board, and are considering the stick on tile approach.
The floor is chip board, that may need a thin ply packer sheet to bring the tiles up level with the carpet.
The wall is standard Gib board with a streak of filler plaster about 250 wide running down a join.

Will the tiles stick to these surfaces ok.

The replacement fire will be a Rinnai free standing gas fire so they will not be subject to any intense heat.

Cheers

Complete garbage got them exact ones on our floor they wear unevenly, the top veneer of the pattern separates from the base which is stuck down to the floor, the corners lift and top layer peels off . All the joins collect all the crap and end up looking filthy. They lift in the sun and need adhesive applied to the bottom to stick back down.

For $10 a box you get what you pay for.

Are there any high quality vinyl tiles on the market, from somewhere like Italy!

bunnings do have one called cobblers tile or something like that. They are 18" and $34 for a box of 4 (expensive). They lok like stone tiles. We have a VERY hard wearing family (4 kids) and we put them down in the kitchen 3 years ago and they still look awesome. We are about to lay them directly over our hard tiles in our bathroom. Really easy to lay, but don't go for the smaller cheap ones, they really are crap!

Vinyl are expensive tiles and require a lot of maintenance as well. I renovated my house with reinstalling the floors from the experts at: http://icustomfloor.com/.
