You can make it whatever you want it to be; it's entirely up to you.
However, for convenience and practicality, distance between cabinets should not be less than 900mm.

well no you cant really, you do have to be able to open the oven door while you are still in the kitchen. Im asking if there is a specific minimum in the code

Mke sure if the oven and fridge face each other that you can still fit between them with both oven and fridge door open, or put one of them somewhere else.

As I have said.

Well in England some of those places, you can just get a body between the cabinets and wall.
Make it practical, even if it is a small house, you need to be able to open things, oven, fridge, dishwasher.and move about a bit.

I don't know if it's in the building code but I think an Auckland Consent checklist had a requirement for 800mm free space in front of open oven door. (so you don't butt yourself into the oven when you bend over with the roast :-))

cheers for that

Well that's our kitchen out then lol (we have a galley kitchen). But why would you want to have the oven and fridge doors open at the same time anyway!

Now you have done it and by raising the question the bloody building police will have a new standard out by monday morning and it will all be down to you.
