Its not the big u shaped handle as such that is broken, but the piece of metal rod that it attached to that is attached to the body of the mower.
the metal rod is the one that stays rigid when you undo the bolts at the side to fold the U shaped handle over the mower when you put it away
There are two metal rods one on either side, can you get replacements or are they exorbitantly priced, I have recently been using a piece of timber I cut to the approximate shape but it snapped recently.

Hmmm would it be called a "Stub Handle" does that sound right! certainly looks similar, will have to look tomorrow in the shed

just go to a small engine repair shop, one that sells mower/chainsaws etc

Take the original 'stub handle' into your local engineering shop with a box of beer and see if a deals a deal. (get the handle welded up). I could do it but not in your region.
