Electric lawn mower - cordless

pogram0, Jan 1, 3:06pm
I used to have a Wolfgarten battery mower which was really first class but they do not seem to make them any more. Unfortunately the batteries were $250 each which was a bit pricey. When it died I purchased an Enviromower - not as good but not too bad either. I just would not let the grass get too long with them and they really do not like kikuya (sp).

Yes Katie232 but some people do not want that sort of thing.
I have an electric lawnmower but with a cord. My next one will be cordless. Think they are fantastic.

Don't stuff around with "toys". Ok these cost a bit more but are brilliant:

Our "kids" have them.
The new ones have lights so can work at night.

I have a Ryobi and managed to mow the small lawn we have four days post shoulder surgery, so easy to do one handed.

I have two enviromowers(now victa), bought on here, both about 5 - 8 years old, paid $80 for one with a 2 year old battery, and $40 for second which needed a repacked battery, which cost me $80 to do ($120 from victa, plus delivery).
I keep one in front yard and other round the back, to save carrying past cars etc. These things go great, for mowing short to medium lawns, but at only 500watts (2/3 of a hp) would be hopeless for lazy folk who let lawns get to paddock length.
I get 30-50 minutes per charge, so as my lawns only take 10 minutes now, whereas old petrol being large, heavy and less maneuverable, and a sod to start, they previously took 30 mins, so they are perfect for my use. And the cut quality is great too, assuming blade is sharp. Sure a lithium iron powered new mower would be even lighter and slightly more powerful, but these old lead acid types are good value, and last for ages if you keep the battery topped up after each use.

can you please advise. what is a good one to get? Both my husband and I have either had shoulder surgery or are having it soon so we want something easy. We have a small flat lawn which can be mowed in about 5 - 10 mins max so don't need anything too big. Just something easy to start, gives a good cut and cordless is our preference

have you tried the battery mower

Bought my wife a battery Stih lawmower - expensive, but highly recommended for a small section. For 5 - 10 minutes you could go with cheaper battery.

Talk to your doctor you could be entitled to some help with your lawns with your disabilities.

We have recently bought a Victor battery mower; brilliant, starts with a button & is VERY quiet.
Whatever you buy in the battery line, make sure it is a lithium battery - no risk of fire with these.

Plenty of energy in a Li-Ion battery and if overcharged, abused and/or old there definitely is a chance of ignition especially on 'cheap and nasty' batteries.

Heavy abuse: https://youtu.be/7gZ8FHEUCl8
