We have 2 x large palm trees in our back yard that we no longer want. What is the best way to remove! would people buy them if we had them dug up. they are both about the size of a two story house in height,

I have heard that people will pay for such palms and remove them for you. It depends if a digger can get access near them.

Would TM be a place to list them! Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question, can you list things for free removal! I know you can on trade and exchange.

Trademe is a good place to sell them. You can't advertise them free for removal, but you can advertise them for $1, with the condition that the buyer must remove them by a certain date.

Also contact landscaping / large tree companies. If they want it at least theyll get a proper digger in & protect the root base.Youll still be left with a great gaping whole to fill in.
A HUGE one was sold & removed from the front lawn of a home in Mt Albert that way last year.

I use to work for a landscaping company that did palm transplants -but don't expect to be sitting on a gold mine with the palm s you want to sell, certain conditions apply when considering these palms to transplant, location can you have vehicle/ hiab crane access to palm to load onto truck! Is there powerlines in the way which may need the powerboard to drop on day, will the truck to remove palms be blocking the main road causing roading disturbance which will need traffic supervision.Evaluate your personal property criteria as the costs of removal to the new owner sometimes are not worth the purchase as it can amount in the thousands and that tree has to be worth the outlay,

Commonly called elephants ears as the base of the trunk looks like an elephants foot.

Yep we have now decided to just remove the one that block sun, and we are cutting it down, not worth the effort of distruction in our garden caused by digger etc having to come in to remove.

They are Washingtonia Robusta, common as all heck. Not worth anything and no one wants them. Especially palm growers and sellers.
