Depends on the situation.If a home and you are going to carpet you need to leave enough for that or any other covering.If a factory with a concrete floor then only enough for clearance.

We would usually leave 30mm under an interior door. This can be a lot less for a timber or tiled floor,but you need to let the chippie know what you want.
