maybe cherry

jrth420, Jan 20, 1:11am
looks like it could be a viburnum.

spiritofgonzo, Jan 20, 1:12am
.could be one of a number of things at this stage

spiritofgonzo, Jan 20, 1:20am
although I suspect since you've another id that's the same, that it is indeed cherry

jrth420, Jan 20, 1:29am

liggy2, Jan 20, 1:39am

I have these too, and are seedlings from my golden elm, happens every year. Looks exactly the same, but they grow green not the yellow.

milkybar4, Jan 20, 8:00pm
it could be an elm tree. http://www.google.co.nz/images!q=elm+tree+leaves&hl=en-NZ&gbv=2&gs_l=heirloom-hp.3.0l2j0i5i30l2j0i22l2.977.5821.0.6108.20.18.0.0.0.0.611.4610.0j6j4j4j0j2.16.0.0.0.1c.1.Rb-FKOHjRJI&oq=elm+tree+leaves

doesnt quite look like a cherry to me. leaves arent right. i'm seen these trees ( your seedling ) here in chch but dont know what they are. cherry leaves are more pointy and glossy as you said. your other one is definately a cherry tree i think.
where do you get all your seedlings!

It's a viburnum I think. This cutting looks very much like the plant I remember getting it from.
