Replace slat in wooden venetian blind ?

I have broken a slat in wooden venetian blind :-(. I have googled it and it seems you can take it out , want to know if any one has done it , and how difficult is is to do ! I hope to take the broken slat out ( half way up blind ) , replace others and just end up with the blind being one slat shorter than it was .

Have done this 2 or 3 times; there are 2 slots in the slats through which the cords pass. Get a replacement slat (asuming that broken slat is unusable) and, with a fine saw or sharp knife, make a cut from one side to the slots. Then you can install the replacement slat around the cords and re-glue the sides of the cut.
There will be a line showing where the cut was made but install it on the inside so it's not too visible.
The other way is to remove the cords and re-thread all the slats in desired places. More difficult and time-consuming.
