Does anybody have information regarding regarding using venetian trellis as barrier on a deck that Is above a metre From the ground.

Some years ago I installed one at the end of a deck that was around a metre from the ground. Because the slats looked flimsy if someone was to fall heavily against it I fitted a couple of rails across the frame at hand and shoulder height. If you are worried about compliance, I would be inclined to run it past the building inspector.

Oriental (vertical) slats would be better but I agree with budgel that they are a bit flimsy. Extra rails might not meet the standard for 'climbing'.

Apparently, you are not allowed to use any framing that can provide footing for kids to climb up. Thats why fencing panels are vertical slats/ pipes with no horizontal cross bars.
