Wet and dry vac

After heavy downpour garage had lots of water to be removed. Done now but I wonder if a wet and dry vac would be suitable to remove water if it happens again. Can anyone recommend one (not expensive as it hopefully would only be used on the odd occasion)

The other option which I use is to sweep out the water using a broom. That wouldn't work if the garage is underground. Sometimes garages have a bilge pump fitted. You could have a "sump" area with a bilge pump.

I have a Karcher WD2 mainly for a similar reason. But lately due to a re-roof the overflowing water no longer backs up and sits in the low lying area. I use the dry function more at the moment for the deck, carport and garage areas.

A friend who has a charter boat has one as well, but I think it is bigger. Mainly used for the boat but I do know he uses at the farm cottage as well.

Thank you that is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Karcher sounds like it will do the job well.

I got a wet & dry vac for $100 because my brother kept flooding the house from the washing machine. When he bought his own house, I sold it to him.

I got a wet & dry vac after my garage was flooded due to the water not being able to get over the 'hump' to the drain created by eartquakes pushing both sides of the concrete up.

It was hard work sweeping it out - at times I didn't feel I was winning! Not wanting to go through that again, I then bought a w&d vac. Mine is an expensive Mechpro from Repco. Also saves me having to take my good household vac outside to vac out the cars!

Don’t know which brand you have but it seems like a good thing to have.

Great and I believe even Repco have them on special too.

I spoke too soon after last nights down pour I have a lake in the car port that I may need to vacuum up if it does not dry up on it's own.

The joys of a big as spouting coping with the carport and one side of the garage going into a too small downpipe and then fighting with the other side on the garage trying to get into same downpipe. And both my tanks are full which is not helping.

Someone had a brain explosion and did not think things through properly. Every other bit of spouting has it's own individual downpipe. I can see another smaller tank is required for the garage.

Sorry to hear that and I hope it does dry up on its own. The rain we had yesterday was terrific and I guess there is still more to come over winter so a wet and dry will be useful.

I bit the bullet and vacuumed it. About 7 litres. Usually the puddle dries in 2 to 3 days. But a bit more than that after the last few days.

I’ve been checking the karcher out. Con you tell me if you have to remove the filter when using it wet?

Not on my one. It is a foam type. I just take the bag out.
