Blueberry - dry and turns like raisins

rayonline_tm, Dec 27, 11:13pm
I noticed it today, the leaves are wilted and the berries almost coming out because like little raisins but much smaller. Now in the shade if you touch the leaves they crack and even crumble. Suggestions?

Have been watering them like 1/4 or 1/3 of a watering can each day and none when it is raining. It is in a pot with 1/2 1/2 orchid potting mix and Tui Peat Moss.

Cheers

I wonder if it could be the variety?
I have eight Blueberry bushes & 5 of them are producing really well & the others have tiny fruit & nowhere near ready yet.
'Reka',is the one that produces brilliantly in my climate, but I had trouble sourcing it last spring, unfortunately, otherwise the piddly producers would be turfed out & replaced with 'Reka'.

do you feed it as might not be the watering it like acid soil

Not sure if it would have made much difference but they do recommend having at least two bushes - two varieties of the same type. ie, rabbiteyes I have 4 different rabbiteye bushes and a very unimpressive looking harvest to look forward to. Mine are also in pots and I'm not so sure that is a good idea.

Possibly over watered

Orchid mix wont be retaining any moisture and once the peat gets dry it is really hard to get it to absorb again.
I would guess that they are very water stressed.
Can you put the whole pot into a container of water and leave for half an hour or until the bubbles stop forming - that may be the beginning of saving them
If they perk up then I would re-pot them into a heavier mix - no point in fertilising when they are so dry.
Good luck
