New roof pricing advice

zak410, Aug 17, 1:42pm
We are building a sleep-out about 10x4m.

On our plans, the roof is wider at one end, as per picture.

My question is regarding the price for the corrugated iron;

How much dearer would it be to have each sheets cut in an angle at one end, to match each others, compared with all sheets being square and of same length if I simplify the plan ?

They will have to be manually cut by the installer on site. Roll formers only give a square end

Thanks for that, I think I may have to change the design.

OK, if I decided to go that way and cut all the roofing iron, what would be the best tool lo use to cut 10m of iron across the corrugations ?

Thank you, that looks good.

Or, a pair of Gilbow snips for about $45. The price of shears can make your eyes water

Would that be ok on double thickness, on overlaps without damaging it ?
Thanks for your help.

The usual method is to cut the pieces individually before fixing. No need to cut through overlaps. Cheers

Just out of interest, what is the roof pitch, and what profile steel are you planning to use?

zak410, Aug 19, 10:23am
It's corrugated Coloursteel 0.55 bmt according to the plan and not sure of pitch as such, but rooms are about 4m wide with ceiling raking from 2.7m at one side to 2.2m at the other.

Must have wide purlin spacings for .55. Also needs to be a minimum of 8 degrees for corro. Cutting .55 will test you that little bit more. If the purlin spacings are around .900, you can save a bit and go with .40.

Good info thank you.

Purlins at 900 so I will consider that for sure.
