Hi I have some very large timber rails 220mm x 165mm that are h3.2. These are in a stone wall. I do not wish to stain as I want to leave natural looking but I do not want them to twist and blow out the stone pillars that they are mounted in. Any idea's. I was thinking perhaps some sort of oil? Cheers

Linseed oil mixed with turps or diesel, have used it for years . 2-3 parts of oil - 10 parts turps/diesel,you will need several applications
Do you know if this lets the wood maintain its natural (brownish) colour, or will it still turn grey from exposure?

By using turps as the carrier that will help keep the pine lighter
