So our 1 year old kwila deck has to be re-finished because whatever product was used by the build co originally is coming off.
Options given to us now (it will be done under build warranty) are either Cabots Aqua Deck or Resene Kwila Decking Oil
Anyone have experience with either of these products on a kwila deck?

Staining a deck will make it last longer and look better. However, regardless of the brand/type of stain that you are using, it is always going to be high maintenance ie. you have to re-stain rather frequently.
I have been using Cabot Aqua Deck on my pine deck. 2 years is just about maximum time before a re-stain is required.

Used Aquadeck on our small kwila deck. Biggest mistake I ever made. because it has a 'skin', it wears unevenly and when wet, looks dreadful. Aqua deck on the waterblasted cedar cladding - fantastic.
I have been sanding off the Aquadeck and although it isn't most people's first choice, I have used CD 50 (which does not skin) and would rather give that a light waterblast and another coat of CD 50 oil, every couple of years, as it brings the wood back to new with that fabulous deep red colour you only really get from a freshly oiled deck, with no added colourant.

My kwila deck is not 25 years old and never stained or oiled. Still has life in it.
