Hi, What are peoples thoughts on these products? I've read a few discussions outside of trademe and I'm sceptical. They don't have the electrical certifications for NZ so really, they should even be sold here as they deemed as dangerous to put into your house. I like the idea though, but not so sure about this particular product.

If they don't have NZ certification then no licensed electrician will install them. Why don't you ask on the auction if they have a "supplier declaration of conformity" as required by Worksafe.
These 230V switching devices are "Declared Medium Risk Articles".
As johotech said they need a SDoC to be legally installed in NZ.
Not having a SDoC doesn't automatically mean that they are "dangerous" or unsafe. It is more likely that the manufacturer/importer etc has not taken the steps to get them certified. This may be because it is not economical for the number they are likely to sell, or they just haven't got to NZ yet, or perhaps they know that they don't meet the standard?
The Sonoff devices also have WiFi, so would have to be tested to ensure they met NZ's radio emission rules.

All these products are built to a price, often it’s the software and support that you pay more for. Have installed Insteon and Fibaru , they work as described but 99% of people get no great benefit from them. E othe

I like them, I have a bunch of smart switches and a handful of humidity, temperature sensor switches around my house. I mean. If they're good for the price, most of their gear is cheap, but works. Usually. And a lot of the gear can be hacked so you can run them with openhab.

I plan to install a few but as they are not NZS will enclose them in diecast boxes to minimise any fire risks. Have experimented and wifi signal control seem (surprisingly) unimpaired by the enclosures. One disadvantage is that there's no Windows app to drive these. only iPhone/Android. Also a bit unsure about the privacy/security issues as it requires web connectivity to work.

HPM, as it's subsidary brand Legrand is the only stuff I use if they have the part I need. PDL is my 2nd option but some of their stuff is crap.
