Painting advice

My 60's era house with hardie type cladding need a paint. As it's coastal there are rust spots and runs from the nail heads that are showing. Is there a good quality primer or similar that I can I can spot paint on the rust marks that will stop the rust coming through the new paint. Have used a rust converter in the past and the rust came through after a while. Hoping someones had experience with a good product that will do the trick. Thanks

Pull out the rusty nails and replace them. Stainless nails would be best. But galv would do for what you need.

In the first sentence the OP stated that the house has Hardie type cladding, that means fibro!
