Painting concrete floors. Problems later?

We're about to strip old carpet from a downstairs living area and are considering painting the concrete floor as a short term tidy up with plans to install more permanent flooring in a year or two, probably bamboo. My concern is whether the paint will cause potential problems when we glue down bamboo, or vinyl, later?

As long as the paint is sound then a subsequent buff over with a belt sander or even a stone polishing disk will let anything stick to it. What paint were you thinking of using?

Undecided on which paint we'll use but was thinking along the lines of an acrylic concrete one. Still to see what the floor surface looks like once we get the carpet stripped out.

Why not go straight to the vynil?

We did the same thing - worked well in tidying it up until we were ready to lay vinyl over whole area a couple of years later. We used a specialist concrete paint in charcoal colour.

I love the polished concrete, much nicer than paint.

More likely bamboo overlay but not until after we have some building works done which are not top of the priority list for now.
