Nicotiana?
What do others think?

Looks pretty much like Nicotiana tabacum. So, tobacco plant.

I'd opt for Nicotiana too.
I have a Yacon plant that looks very similar.

Thank you! Never know what you will find when you move to a new house!

Consider yourself lucky, I got stones!

lol yep, you never know what is there. We waited a full year before changing the garden around just to see what we had.

I've cut my nicotania back now, I hope you like self seeding plants as nicotania is prolific!

We were trying to ID a beautiful smelling flower for years and only just discovered it was a nicotiana, probably the nicotiana alata, the dwarf variety. we had them in white and pink, and I'm in the dog box because this weekend during a weeding frenzy, I pulled out the only two plants we had. Anyone know where you can buy seedlings as I don't really want to grow from seeds

chris f. they had dwarf nicotiana seedlings at Mitre 10 garden centre in Opotiki last week, so I guess they should be in most stores. The colour in the photograph is beautiful.
