Nikau - Can they tolerate a little brakish water?

Hi there. We have a riparian area on a stream edge. The stream is tidal, so at king tides can slightly cover teh riparian zone with water. Flax and Cabbage seem to tolerate it fine. Just wondering if Nikau would tolerate it?
Cheers. D

I would say no - their common habitat is forest and coastal cliffs rather than having their feet in water. I helped out with a Masters research topic that was grading trees along altitudinal gradients in Puketi forest up North and all the Nikau were on hillsides with good drainage
