Can anyone help me in identifying this seedling please. It is coming up in some bark we had delivered from the contractors that do the roadside trees under the power lines. It's no biggy, it pulls out very easily. I just wondered what I am throwing away?
Sorry cannot help. Would need to get a bit bigger first.

Do you have camellias nearby? Are the leaves shiney? We have a whole of large camelias and these seedlings look a lot like wot I have been uprooting. Capricorngirl

That could be almost anything, you need to let it get an adult leaf at least

No, no camellias. But thank you.

My guess would be a sycamore

You may be onto something there. Thanks.

I don't think it is a sycamore. though I do think it is a tree seedling. possibly an ornamental cherry? Have a look at the trees nearby. It has most likely seeded from a nearby tree.
Looking at your first pic I would say flowering cherry. You can see the two new leaves are starting to look like the leaves of the cherry tree. We have these coming up in our garden and they look the same.

Could be anything! Birds great at spreading seeds, have 2 Totara growing very tall gratis of "feathered friends."

Thanks guys, interesting. These seedlings are coming up in some shredded trimmings off trees, over quite a big area. I will let some continue to grow.

good idea as branches put thru a shredded could be any thing as tree seedlings look alike

Looks like one of those wild prunus trees, you know the ones with simple single petaled white flowers?
