I thought it would make a good groundcover, but it's taking over my whole section.

Looks like some sort of Balsam, to me . could be wrong.

Correct … I remember it from my childhood and popping the seed pods.

Yes it looks like balsam. I am going to chop it out today, since it's caused the whole bank to fall down on my house.

You bought it as ground cover. Looks like it's covering the ground very effectively. :)

I don't buy plants. It was there already. I am aghast at how much there is of it. There must be 100 rubbish bins full.
