HRV Summer Kit

Hi, we've bought a house with a HRV which has a heat transfer incorporated into it. I see that a "Summer Kit " can also be incorporated as well. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has one of these regarding how effective they are, thanks.

HRV with a "heat transfer"?
We have a summer kit.
Makes the house a lot better than the normal roof ventilation, as pulls air from the south side.
But still getting the same temp as outside, as not an AC unit.
Still better than the roof temps, which had the inside hotter than outside.
Some just don't run HRV during summer, most likely the same effect.

Despite the claims, they are a con - the heat losses in transfering are equal to the heat being transfered. Can't beat a good roof fan and some open doors to spread the heat thru the house!

the air pipes should really be insulated so it doesn't heat up in the the ceiling.
then you can pull in cooler outside air than roof temp.

Or you could open the windows on the shady side of the house.

I installed a ceiling vent or whirlybirds as they are called in Australia.Best thing I did asthe hot air is sucked out of the ceiling space creating a cooler area. All powered by the wind.We could be in for another hot summer.

It won’t replace a heat pump (AC) but certainly makes sleeping at night more comfortable & are easily installed
