Just hang fire until worksafe decides if they are going to make a exemption to the category b asbestos rules. At the moment we have to use licensed removalists and they are rorting the prices. Once given the clearance roofers will be able to remove and dispose for about half what they are charging. Should be anytime soon. ( Note that this is for 70's decramastic and Harvey tiles)

My re roof on a single story 2 bedroom unit was $12,500 before the asbestos discovery. The highest quote was $17,500. The lowest quote was from a reputable company who did an excellent job.
Go with Golfdiver's advice and hang fire a bit till the asbestos issues are sorted out, while you save up for it.

The abestos testing guy who tested our house knew of it many many months before Nov 2016 . he told me their could be asbestos in our garage roof a year before that date .

Well the manufacturers only became aware of it then.

Quote I have in front of me for the asbstos removal was done 28/09/15 .
Its from the demo guys , who used the asestos boys figures .
Was the asbestos boys who tested the D/M tiles , along with many many other things inside/outside and under the house .
They said at the time ( maybe a month before the quote ) that they had found asbestos in those tiles before .

Seems someone knew long before the cat was let out

yes well could be a fair amount of saving then

Yeah I've heard anecdotal talk of people knowing much like your case, but I first became aware about 48 hours after the manufacturers found out and put out a release. They used an external supplier for their primer, and didn't think to find out and record what was in it. Are you Chch ? I'm on my phone

Christchurch . EQ's have exposed many issues

Indeed it did. Hopefully we have seen the end of big ones for a few decades.
