Ponga fence

We have one fence area on our property that isn't very wide but the fence on that section is lower than all the rest. So I'm thinking of putting in ponga uprights just in front of it on our side to bring it up to 1.8m like all of the rest of our boundary fences, as that seems a minimal expense compared to adding on height any other way.

Do you cement ponga in like you would normal fenceposts (if they are dead)? I'm guessing they also get tied together with something?

Also, I'd like to have a vine growing over it. Can anyone recommend something that will flourish in pretty much full sun but not take over?

I put in a Ponga "fence" a couple of years ago. Dug holes around 500mm deep and put in freshly cut Ponga logs. Watered them every day for a couple of weeks and then they started sprouting. Carried on with light watering for a few more weeks and a year later have a "live " fence giving a canopy of shade.

Dig a tench and put them in. Wire them together. Some will grow some will not. They last for many years.
