Question for any electricians please

melford, Mar 4, 2:25am
Why would I have very hot water coming out of my kitchen taps but not out of the bath taps. I only have the one cylinder in the house

You may have a tempering valve on your bathroom taps that mix cold/hot to keep a temperature under 57 degrees

As above - tempering valve.

That's plumber territory.

If you do have a tempering valve, it's there for safety reasons. EG, little kids and hot water in baths.

ooops of course it is plumber territory

It may be several things . A long pipe run to the bath and no lagging on the hot pipe or as I have found with a mains pressure cylinder is that because you are drawing a lot of hot water for a bath and the ripple control is off the edge is knocked off the amount of hot water available to the bath. This was my experience and we could effectively have two showers in the morning and the same at night, that was with a 40gal Hunsen hot water cylinder. The sink of course is taking less hot water at a time and will be less noticeable. Talk to the electrician about a quick recovery element if it worries you.
