White fly and grey aphids on curly kale

fishplants, Apr 29, 3:53am
we seem to have both white fly and grey aphids on our kale. Any idea what to do? I usually wash it in salt water which kills most of the culprits. Have tried the old soapy water thing but with the high rainfall in Northland it is not really working. And spraying underside of ruffled leaves . well you know it is not easy. Any good ideas?

I would save the discharge water from your next cloths wash into a bucket, and spray the heck all over the kale. Add a little dish wash liquid to make it more soapy, and you will find it will smother all the bugs.

The leaf drop has just about finished on the peach trees , Will also use this on them and the Swan plants .

With non-chemical sprays, you have to repeat at least once a week.

Thanks for the ideas.

I have had same problem recently, have been trying garlic in spray bottle of water, seems to be working now after 2 weeks of spraying every 2 days or so/no more eggs. But still have a few adults. Have planted Calendula to attract ladybugs which eat white fly. & onions & garlic near kale to keep them away.
