What is the best way to keep these pests off the cabbages etc. Have put derris dust on the plants and also covered with a fine net and put some african marigold plants around the cabbages. Dont want to use any sprays. Thanks.

You can attract their predators to the garden by setting up a beneficial insect garden

have heard from a old guy that u put some lettuce leaves in hot water, leave overnight then put the liquid into a spray bottle and spray yr veges regulary with it. Have not tried it yet but it recons it works well.
