Hey guys, i'm wanting to build a small room in the roof space as storage with walk in attic stairs, does anyone know if generally i would need consent for such a thing? TIA

The ceiling joists are very unlikely to be strong enough for a floor. More and more boxes will be put up there until one day when the whole lot collapses into the room below.

I've seen a large storage area in a roof with attic stairs (no smoke detectors or sprinklers) and my observation was that you could walk up the attic stairs carrying an archive box, but damned if you could ever walk down safely carrying a box even if it was empty.
