Miniature Cucumbers

Growing these this year. tired of the bigger ones going soft in the fridge, these are the equivalent of cherry tomatoes.

Look like zucchini to me

Similar size but they're not. they're cucumbers for sure.
Cucino is the name.

I am going to try these next year they appear to be very prolific and your plant is so, so healthy. Agree that the fruit resembles zuchhini but definitely cucumber foliage.

Where did you get them.

Yes cucumbers, what a great crop, well done.
Mini cucumbers you say, did they have a specific name when you bought the plant/seed.

Thanks.

Cucino.

Had to buy seeds overseas as I couldn't find any here.

They look neat, any tried pickling them? Usually I grow gherkins and just let a few get bigger for cucumbers, but could be tempted to try these.

Hi lythande, would you mind sharing where you got them. Was there any problem getting them in to the country? Have often seen stuff overseas and worried how it would go importing them. Your plants look fantastic, job well done

Some UK garden place - I just googled Cucino seeds. Found a few, the UK one shipped to NZ.

Getting them is easy. If the sender does not write the scientific name on the customs sticker, NZ customs just write to you and you email them and send them that info and then they release them.
They're worried about pest plants, not regular food crops.

Great idea - how long do they grow please?

lythande1, Jan 16, 10:01pm
Length? Well we grew them up a stake, it's about 4 foot up now and also spread out from base about 3 foot in each direction - and still growing.

You can cut them off but they branch. like tomatoes, they just keep on going so a haircut every now and then keeps them under control.
Mostly.

Cucumbers need to be Gladwrapped if in the fridge to slow down the softening, drying out process.
