Anyone else having problems with cucumbers this year!Normally I have an embarassment of them but this year the plants haven't developed many roots and have mildew.I bought some compost this year and am wondering if there is too much bark in it.

I live in Christchurch, and having the best grow season in years, with lots of very warm weather.
We have already 2 cucumbers picked from one plant, and its going to produce many many more. { just measured them at 11 inches]

I have the reverse 'problem'.Normally I cant grow cucumbers. They succumb to mildew.
This year I have a decent crop.

It has been very humid up here (Kerikeri) for a long time so maybe that is it.Perhaps you could transfer some of your cucumber growing weather up here please!

First time cuc grower here. Had a couple of biggies and they are slowly getting a few more. lots of mildew for months which has more severely affected courgettes. I am finding one posters suggestion of milky water poured on leaves maybe helping contain the mildew.I need to do it more regularly to really test it! Im on north shore.

I have a huge problem with cucumhers again, What to do with them. I am sick of carting bags full to OP shops and the neighbors flee when they see me coming I only plant three a year, white ones, and have the same problem each year.
