A spray to kill Lilly of the Valley.is there one?

I'm digging out what I can. I've been here nigh on 19 years and all of a sudden this 'weed' has come from nowhere and is taking over the bed of violets. Any suggestions on a suitable spray would be much appreciated.

Why not just let them mingle together, they compliment each other and although I never regarded LOV as a weed there was a similar post here last week. Violets can also be pretty weedy, invasive also so why not just contain both to the area where you are happy with them. And be thankful LOV does so well for you as there are plenty who would love to grow it but can't. I would love to be successful with it but too warm here and no really good spots in my garden for it so it struggles on, valiently

Good suggestion, re leaving them to intermingle.but, the LOV is proving the dominant plant. I never planted it where it is, the people wholived here before me, nigh on 19 years ago, must have put it in. The violets I can control as the have reasonable shallow roots, but the LOV sends out underground creepres, and was starting to get established in amongst my other plants. I do like it, but not everywhere.

I wonder if you could treat it like bamboo and paint the shoots with weedkiller when they pop up somewhere you don't want them.I'd try roundup first, but the garden centre's should be able to advise on other weedkillers if that doesn't work

By the time I physically remove the stuff the only place I feel like putting it is in a bag for the dump.sorry all you LOV lovers.but where I live LOV is thriving.it has found a shady, south-facing damp place in my garden.

Thanks for this suggestion. Yes, I guess it could be like bamboo. I read of horror stories about it, in warmer areas. I plan to get roundup to spray on it where it is so thickly compacted. and to paint it on the runners I can't seem to remove.here's hoping.

Honestly, tear as much as you can up, pot it, and sell it. My wife would buy it!

I would try this method, it's a nightmare of a thing once it gets a hold

i have great sucess with killing weed by breaking off the end leaving the weed soaking in a small container of woody week killer. the plant takes it back to the roots. works really well on morning glory etc. Not to be done where children are tho. time consuming but works

Vigilant gel would be my suggestion
