Best black fence paint.

our last house was resene fence paint but not black and it was pretty expensive. I have a lot of bare fence to paint. I was told accent fence and trellis was quite nice and thick. I want it to last and I think what is on a small front bit is wattle black but a very cheap variety $40 something for 10 litres.

Generally dark paint doesnt last as long as light coloured paint. It absorbs heat and then cracks. Found out the hard way when I painted some window surrounds with a dark blue

My black fence looks fine almost 9 years later, but we did use Timbacryl so yes it was more expensive but worthwhile as we have used it in the past for fences and know how well it lasts.
I helped paint my sisters fence a few weeks ago and she is using the fence and trellis paint in black. It is a thick consistency like you said and was easy to apply and covers well.
She had also used fence finish at her previous place and that was like water, you do get what you pay for.

You get cool colours these days which have a higher light reflectance value than standard meaning you can get away with darker colours.

Personally Id go stain on a fence (if I was bothering to do it) as its so much less prep and easier esp with repaints. There are some stains with a long life http://www.versatileproducts.co.nz/shop/Decorative+Finishes.html

I used a Resene black stain on my bare timber around 8-9 years ago and it still looks good. Think a good qualtiy stain will outlast a paint.

Stain it with a mix of diesel and old used motor oil. Mega cheap and looks great
