sweet did you use the special mix! im a no8wire type of girl so mixing concrete and laying wont be an issue lol. Im planning on getting the precast slab of here, building ontp of that and not fixing it permantly to the block base (we're due to move in the next few years so it needs to be able to be lifted with a forkhoist so i can take it with me)

No just normal concrete , but has a Great footer and all ties together, So shakey here if it wasn't ties together would all fall over in a good E/Q, also the bricks a tie to the blocks,
there are some nice ones ive seen with a wooden base the polished concrete base,, im hoping to be bricked up-to the base in a fortnight (unable to work on it next weekend) then start the layout of the oven, Have scored a heap of night store bricks for nothing so will be using those so the fire bricks, so far all ive bought is cement, premix and lime $100 all up

I have been looking on you tube at designs some do some dont without one all the smoke will come out the door with one you will loose heat up the chimney

I want to build the earth oven type like shimmygirl but maybe add small chimney above the door and will add straw to hold it together instead of the cowshit for the insulation layers over the first layer of clay mix

ive noticed on a few website they mix the cow dung and straw and clay together then pack it on.

thats why im undecided, ive noticed scorch marks on the front upper side of the door frame on ones that have no chimney but wonder about heat loss with a chimney, i suppose its all down to personal preference.
That looks good I need to find a source of clay dont want to pay for 220 kgs of it like they used its quite good to see what they used and good instructions

yip hubby is amused im going to go and actually ask a farmer for cow poo!
I have a source of pumice so am going to use crushed pumice to make my concrete and maybe use on my insulation layer as it can provide some insulation just a matter of picking up a couple of loads at the beach and add some sand and cement might try get some on the weekend so I can make a start on my foundations can also get my sand easily and will only need to buy some cement and a bit of steel

Had another park day free today, here is a progress pic, plan to cover the all night store bricks on the base with blue stone to stop any rust/iron getting to the pizzas
here is mine, I used clay from the ground here and used straw as the insulation layer, which was really difficult to mix with the clay. It really needs to be cut into smaller bits. OK how do I post a pic! I have an imageshack account and they are all there but it didn't work
