Best area in the garden to plant a daphne bush?

I have a small daphne to plant but unsure what they need or like to survive.
I've tried growing one before but haven't had any luck.
Any hints?

I find that in a shady (but with a little sunlight) has worked for mine.

While we are on the subject can anyone tell me it they will do alright in a large pot?

As long as in a semi shady spot and kept moist there should be no problem

away from pets and children as they are poisonous

At work the biggest and bushiest daphne gets weak filtered light through the trees above and all day. The area isn't damp but its surrounded by other shade loving trees too.

Mine is in a shady morning and sunny afternoon area. It is on a clay bank, dry. Very little moisture. Devastatingly it is growing where the new garage is going, the bush is 20 years old and HUGE

I find they like facing the East best.

Mine is on the North-Western corner of my house, full sun from about 11am year round, concrete deck on one side of it, pavers on another. garden and lawn on the other two sides. it's the largest I've seen a Daphne bush grow to - over a metre high, about a metre across. one of my favourite plants. the fragrance at my front door is gorgeous.

I've got 2 in full sun and they have done extremely well ! They are delicate things - my neighbour has one in partial shade and it is sick as .
