mmm. Stupidly a sports drink bottle has melted on the element. any suggested how I can get this off? do I let dishwaher heat up again so I might be able to pull it off?

Can you peel it off, or cut the plastic off without damaging the element? With scissors maybe?

I wouldn't start up the dishwasher again, i would wait till the element was cool, switch off at the wall, and peel as much as you can off.

Just peel off what you can. the rest will come off the next time you use the dishwasher. Has happened to us about 10x over the years and it's never affected the dishwasher.

We have destroyed loads of plastic in our - design fault of you ask me (wouldn't but exposed element again) they always just come off cleanly.
