Raised garden beds

Is there any reason why H4 retaining timber cannot be used for raised vegetable beds ?

if you line the inside, the chemicals from the timber treatment shouldn't leach into the soil too much. Good for big broccoli though.

There can be some leaching of chemicals from the timber into the soil close to the timber. To reduce possible contamination, line the sides with polythene before filling it with soil.

All of ours gardens are raised using H4 retaining timber, we stapled polythene double thickness all the way around the inside from the top to a couple of hundred mm below the timber.
We found .450 tall with .150x50 on it's flat makes a good seat as well as a place to sit your cuppa while tending your patch

Macrocarpa sleepers last very well.
