Cracked Concrete Slab Garage Floor

The house i have bought has a big crack across the carport slab. This does not have any structural impact on the house(building report done) but it looks ugly. How do I get it repaired and can I paint the floor to make it look better as it right at the entrance. What tradesperson do I need?

theres not a lot you can do, wit or without a tradesperson, once the crack is there it is extremely difficult to hide, it maybe possible to cut it out but that will require quite a large section of concrete to be removed, and replaced, and have a proper expansion joint made in the new concrete, can be done DIY, with about the same expected success rate and a lot less cost than a tradey, a full surface cover later will hide any repairs, ie paint

theres some sort of grey filler you can put in them as you see it in commercial buildings and council concrete floors. didnt they use something like that in chch earthquake homes.

. then you could paint lines that look similar to the crack in a pattern you like, that makes it blend in.

you could cut lines in the rest of the floor to match the crack , then clean out with a air compressor, then fill with epoxy grout. in a slightly darker colour.

Put this in Canterbury Recovery
They are repairing floors where I work.
The filler is a two pot mix and he mixes silica sand into it.
The price is approx $120 for 1 litre
You need to grind the crack wider and if it has a void under the slab you need to seal off (he was using some sort of round polystyrene extrusion ) so that the filler doesn't just run away through the slab but only need to do this in a few places.
Once set he used a special concrete grinder (looks like a polisher but designed to grind a smooth flat finish).
Once finished the crack stands out because the concrete is all clean and smooth in that area where the crack is. But if you had a small slab area you could quickly grind the whole area or paint.
You would need to find a hire place for the special concrete grinder.
I can ask what the name of the stuff is tomorrow if you want?

We have cracks that have been repaired post EQs, in the properties garage we bought. They are likely in the house floors too. I imagine if the garage floors were painted you wouldn't notice the cracks as they are already filled with a resin looking filler. Years ago before the EQs we had a court yard that cracked, due to it not being cut. A grey filler was used it was perfectly visible. But painting it would have disguised it well.

We used this stuff tto rebuild our conctrete water tanks from the inside.
We are now painting our garage and shed floors with their "Hangar Paint".
