Cleaning a vinyl floor.

We had new vinyl laid last year and as it was so hard to keep clean I used a liquid floor polish to give it a better surface. The vinyl is like like small pebbles with a matt finish. However, after using a steam mop it has lifted some of the polish and it now looks a real mess. I have tried ammonia but it hasn't made any difference.
Any suggestions on how to remove the polish would be gratefully appreciated.

I was told by the flooring shop to never use steam mops on new vinyl, and to clean it only with white vinegar in water, which is what I do

Thankyou both. jane,are the products from Cleaners Warehouse available from any other venue. Mitre10, Placemakers or the like? They have just the product that I am wanting!
