Have got weeds to spray and would like to know what I can use in place of the spray fix that you buy at garden centres. Have heard that dish wash liquid /detergent would do. If this is so what is the mixing ratio.

Try
liquid detergent is a good substitute, use that at 10ml to your 5 Ltr spray.
