Picking Mushrooms question.

I threw a bunch of mushroom spores in the veggie garden a year or so back. I tried to grow them from from one of those pack things you get from the garden centre, but it was a miserable failure, so I chucked the whole lot in the veggie garden.
Today, I find mushrooms everywhere in the garden where I chucked the spores. I have picked 2 bags so far, but do I pull the storks out, or leave them there!
There will be another 2 bags there tomorrow and I want to keep the mushrooms growing.

I don't think you need to leave the stems.They grow from spores not the stems.

Just leave a few in the lawn to spore - that's how they reproduce, nothing to do with stems.

so would it work to chuck mushrooms from the supermarket onto a compost heap/lawn and have them spore! i have been pondering this for some time lol

I was woundering the same thing,hopefully someone can cast some light on this subject.

Our lawn ones have all grown from the bought ones rubbish. Lawn must be quite short. Too much grass they can't grow through
