I am moving soon, and getting a new Man-Cave - a new 9m*8.4m of wood and metalworking fun and games storage, with a new concrete floor. At present it is still only plans, but like the hair, it will happen. What is everyone's experiences with 1 pot garage floor paint! Does it last with cars and stuff sitting or moving around on top of it! How long to leave the concrete to cure before acid and paint!
My current place has 3 coats of Resene Aquapoxy 2 pot over a acid washed floor, and it has been great with machinery, welding, grinding, oil spills and car tyres on it, but it is more difficult to apply and much more expensive. We had 3-4 people painting and 1 mixing with the drill power mixer when we did it.

Hi, while i haven't got a man cave i do have a garage with a concrete floor that i paint in. Not going to comment on the painting side but raise this. I have found that working on a concrete floor for long periods is really hard on feet and legs. Two solutions I have used.make a wooden floor from pallets. I joined palets together to make a floor. great to stand on.The other solution also used in a shed with a concrete floor was to layer up old carpet underlay cut to size.I have about four layers at a time and as each layer gets dirty i take to dump. People are always throwing out carpet underlay so cheap to get replacements. In Southland many garages etc have proper carpet on them. old carpet so i guess so spills don't matter. Not sure about sparks from welding gear on any of these ideas.

We usedDulux Aquatread and it stuck better to car tires better than the concrete, and ithe concrete was etched. Since, i have used a concrete grinder to get the old stuff off and repainted in 2 part epoxy paint which has been great so far. The aquatread was ok to walk on, got soft when i spilled petrol on it, but dried up ok. Since i think it has been relabeled more as a paving paint. Cannot fault the epoxy, had it for 6 months

Dulux no longer advise using aquatread on garage floors, rep was in our store last week putting nea labels on tins to remove any mention of garage floors in the instructions

The experience above with Aquatread reflects the experience my father had with the paint on his back porch, which had foot traffic only. It didn't last at all, and I wouldn't use a water based floor and paving paint for anything.

In American magazines Rustoleum garage floor is heavily advertised, but I haven't seen it for sale here. The thing I like about it is the range of colours.
