Sand question

I want to buy sharp river sand but cant find it under that name. Bunnings, Mitre10 etc sell many types of sand but what is the equivalent to river sand

So long as it's from a fresh water source, it's ok. The places you mentioned will all be using that: beach sand (ie full of slat) is disastrous for both gardens and concreting; so you're probably ok with any of it. I've never understood that garden book term. I just buy a bag of sand . it seems to do the job ok for mixing into potting mix for succulents, and for striking cuttings, so that'll do.

places that do concrete have it.I use beach sand from the top edge of the beach, it's perfect - the salt is long gone.If you're worried, just rinse it, but I don't bother.

Sharp sand is NOT river or beach sand but is from a gravel crusher so it has not been water washed and had the sharp edges removed.

Try no 1 mercer sand from Placemakers yard.

depends on what the final use is.
For paving etc -crusher dust.
For gardens/Pots etc - washed crusher dust, it has the fines removed.

But that's down here, different areas will have different names.
