Have got a Rimu vanity unit in our bathroom that had polyurethane & it started lifting because of the steam & heat. If we ever got wood in the bathroom again we would look at oiled not polyurethaned.

If you go for separate shower -try and find one with a built in seat. Invaluable when scrubbing feet or the elderly.

i dont know why ppl dont like showers over bathtubs
they are the best
nothing like lying down having a shower

I have a shower over bath & hate it. It will effect your resale value if you do it. Get an injury, get old, have elderly visitor - they're lethal.

joey246, Jan 27, 9:37am
lol hardly
i mean if a shower over a bath is so dangerous than so is a bath without a shower over it
you just must be clumsy

We do have another bathroom with just a shower so shouldn't be too much of an issue there. If we did one I would like it to be over a freestanding bath with a full curtain. I really like the idea of a shower seat though and have seen some cool ones when looking online.

Nonsense.
Dangerous to get into and a slippery sloping base. Will take $ off the resale of any house.
So 1950's . . .

Get real !
Do you stand up when having a bath !

I have bought quite a bit of bathroom fitting from this crowd http://www.millen.co.nz/ including acrylic free standing edge roll hip baths.
Very good quality and prices, even deliver to South Island at VERY competitive cost.
For example - bought bath as above, local price in Nelson was $ 2,800 plus delivery, no waste fittings, plus delivery $50 to Motueka(54 ks).
From site above paid $ 740 plus $80 freight and included all fittings and very well packed.

Waste ect included but not tapware.

how do you get into and out of the bath genius
fly

That millen website looks good, love those baths! Was that the one you paid $740 for! If you don't mind me asking!
Thanks for that.

Yup. That was 2 years ago
What I did with that one was to mount the taps and spout on the walljust about opposite the waste withe the edge of the bath just clearing the wall.
The spout overhung the edge of the bath.
i then arranged for the waste pipe so that it would act as a pivot, cut discs out fowm the flooring and they sat under to legs.
We can now rotate the whole bath around the waste pipe which is further covered by a 1200 mm plastic drain coupling that has a wide slot cut in it so that it will sit around the waste pipe,. The coupling is then covered with the same material as the floor covering.
Looks very tidy and smart and the best thing is the Mrs has no excuse for not cleaning the floor behind the bath, - -she just has to pull it away from the wall, clean, then push it back. Being light the pads on the feet do not damage the flooring.
have fun !

Do you really need me to tell you.
Try doing it one leg at a time.

don't like showers over baths but if space is minimal its better than a tiny shub bath and a tiny shower! Just make sure the bath is nice and wide to stand in.
