Bad drain smells

You should be able to look under the sink and handbasin to see if there's an S bend there. If there are no S bends they are real easy to put in. The shower might be hard to check, but I can check mine (because I installed it!)

If you own your apartment it should not be too expensive to put vent pipes in. However lack of vent pipes is unlikely to be the problem.

Brilliant! I have an identical problem with the soupy swampy smell coming up, and the second bathroom is not being used at all.shall go run water forthwith!
