ive got convolous (sp) growing up the side and its starting to get inside (missing glass).can i lightly spray it or will it get to the root of my tomatoes!

Have you considered direct application with a paint brush!More concentrated maybe!

velenski, Jan 18, 1:16pm
yeah thought of doing that ,might do it ,should limit chance of it getting near tom roots

Think your roots would be fine. I've recently sprayed around my outside tomatoes with no problems. Roundup needs to touch plants directly it woun't get to them through the soil.

NO! Just cut the weed and pull the roots.

Just don't use 24D or 245T.
Apparently even tine concentrations of these herbicides in soil will cause the plants to grow deformed and weird.
I have a friend who always grows tomatoes from seed and this year he set up a new garden bed and filled it with "organic" compost from a recycling place. The tomatoes have grown really deformed and strange and he sent photos to different people and they came back with herbicide damage. Obviously there was a small amount in the soil. The cucumbers and everything else in the bed is growing normally. So stay away from these herbicides!
Roundup would be ok though as it actually needs to contact the leaves and doesn't really move through soil with normal use. But i don't think roundup really kills convolvulus.

have you thought of pulling the weeds out by hand

planespotterhvn, Jan 19, 4:56am
At least pull the weed vines back outside of the greenhouse before spraying and put a bit of cardboard across the broken glass space so spray doesn't drift.

Dont go any where near the tomatoes with glyphosphate spay. Its not the spray contact, its the fumes.Seen a tunnel house wiped out,and they sprayed weeds, not to close to tomatoes. The plants will start going yellow at the tops and defomed.
