Painting - bathroom ceiling

sport_billy, Nov 15, 9:44pm
Hi all,

Need a bathroom ceiling painted in a tidy rental & have a few quotes which are good (I am unable to do it - lack of time) but after some feedback on the type of paint used:

Has been suggested I use either acrylic enamel semi-gloss (more resistant to moisture but not as 'modern')

or

acrylic enamel flat (looks & performs good?)

Just wondering what people recommend?

Think both Resene products. I will likely have a shower dome installed too.

semigloss is easier to wipe clean, flat is a bastard to even get fly poo off

Zinsser Bathroom paint, it's semi-gloss. Anti-mould and so, so easy to wipe clean. It's a latex type acrylic paint. Best stuff ever.

Shower domes are great better than any extractor fans and usually solves any paint problems.

the problem with water based it needs 48 hrs before the tenant can use the shower as steam affects the new paint

Thanks all - yes heard they are great (domes) and yes have a window of drying before tenanted again

You could use oil based paint which is unaffected by water. I've put on Resene Supergloss when it is raining, I did my kitchen windows and opened them to do the insides, and the rain didn't affect them.

I take you also have an extractor fan in the bathroom.
