I am considering removing a very large window in a bedroom and replacing it with one that 1m less wide. So i think the finished window will be bout 140cm x 240cm wuth two hung hinged windows on the side. This will give me wall space to build a wardrobe in that room.
I have no idea what the cost of joinery is and it will need to match the remaining window in that room. Just looking for rough costs to give me an idea of wgat i might be in for.

You could put a piece of plywood over the unwanted part of the window. Paint the outside white. You might be surprised at the cost of a new window and the cost of installing it e.g. thousands of dollars. However double glazing is an excellent idea.

Yes thats what Im concerned about. The existing are all double glazed so would want the same. The house is 1960s red brick (windows upgraded) so im a little worried about filling it in as i wouldnt he able to match the brick and it would be a large window size pieve in the muddle of a wall. Still trying to look at all possible options :-)

Buy a second hand, double glazed window which does the job, frame it in and put a piece of plywood on the outside and paint it the same colour as the window frame or as your front door. You, or one of your mates, must know a builder you can ask, but dont assume it will be 'thousands' until you find out.

Yes im looking out for second hand ones aswell. windows are white so probably have to paint it brick red. As a solid piece of white might be quite bright. Its on the bsck wall of the house so not very often seen

Demolitiion Traders have heaps of brand new (2nds) and older Ali windows . The 2nds are generally from new builds that havent been made to order - nothing wrong with them.

thats quite a job. tho you can get 2nd hand bricks that might match better than new. as its been a retro fit, which would be fairly recent, theres probably a manufactures name on the windows somewhere. don't forget you will need council consent.
thats an expensive project just so you can fit in a wardrobe.

Put window tint film over that area, or whole window, and just build wardrobe as is, so that it would give good lighting in it.

aluminum windows are built to size and design. And can be removed and rebuilt/redesigned and refitted. Impression from your original post is the opening windows are in the area you wish to place the wardrobe.
Recommendation would be to talk to an aluminum joinery (window maker) could be just a remake and move the opening windows to the other side and then as suggested build the wardrobe effectively in to the window area
