Question for window gurus

my son is looking at replacing the windows in his house, he has been told by a window rep that was having a measure that because the current windows are only 700mm up from the floor they have to be safety glass on the inside pane of the double glazing, yes/no

Apparently so. Have to scroll down a bit.

Oh and make sure the rep provides a guarantee that the existing hinges, stays etc will cope with the extra weight. DGU's are heavy beasts.

the whole units are being replaced not just the glass

So are you getting completely new joinery or are they just going to fit new sash into existing units?

whole new joinery, the windows were replaced perhaps in the 80s?they would have originally been double hung but the replacement wooden windows are in average condition so the boy is looking at replacing them

one quote has come in, instillation only is 6k. 7 windows and 1 door, weatherboard house, no scaffold needed
